About the Operator

As an individual, I have adhered to a policy of being non-political. I believe in good government and therefore judge each policy not on who is promoting it, but on what it means to the country. The following statement truly covers my political outlook:

“A Liberal-Minded Conservative Soul with a Socialist Heart, tinged with a Green Outlook.”

As far as religion is concerned, I actively seek the common ground rather than the differences. I work from the basis that good people are good people, no matter where they were born, the colour of their skin, or the faith they were born into or have chosen.

I am a married man with four children. I work hard, and I enjoy and value my personal time. I am an electrical engineer and, I guess, by nature I am well suited to it. I like things to be well designed and to have a purpose. To that end, it has been a natural progression into developing positive ideas, whether for business, social or economic purposes.

I value the assets and resources we have, and firmly believe in social justice and fairness.

The range of people and organisations I have worked with, and shared ideas and thoughts with, covers many governments and industries. In one twelve-month period, this included eleven government departments, three major energy companies, five major car companies, three international telecommunications providers, policing organisations such as the NPIA, transport and infrastructure companies, local businesses, and large pharmaceutical and retail companies, including major supermarkets.

I am not perfect, but I do try to ensure that I always do the best job possible. I enjoy life. People see me as an upbeat individual and as someone they can turn to. I like people to respect my confidences, and I respect theirs. I am not one to break a promise.

I try to lead my life well. I believe that “what goes around, comes around”.

The values I bring to radio

My belief is straightforward: understand your own value, value your ideas and maintain your ideals. Character, integrity and the willingness to extend a hand matter more than the labels that divide people. My fuller statement is on the Our Shared World page.

Why amateur radio?

Amateur radio brings together several things that have always interested me: electrical engineering, communication, experimentation and learning from others. My callsign is M3JWK, and this website is a place to share that journey as it develops.

It is also a hobby that can bring together people whose backgrounds, experiences and opinions differ. We need not agree about everything to exchange knowledge, offer help or enjoy a good conversation.
